Steenberg The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc 2016

The Black Swan 2016 shows notes of honeydew melon, zesty lime marmalade and cape gooseberry on the nose, while the palate complements the aromas with white peach, spicy green peppercorn, tart granadilla, candied lemon and fresh fig leaves. A nervous acidity accompanies the full, unctuous palate due to extended lees contact in tank. This is a great food wine and will reward cellaring between 5 to 10 years.

Steenberg Semillon 2016

The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of the top two Sauvignon Blanc vineyards on Steenberg and is a selection of the best fruit from the vintage. The grapes were crushed / de-stemmed and left on the skins for 18 hours. The juice was then left to settle for 2 days before fermentation. A slow and cold fermentation resulted in a full, rich wine. The wine was kept on the lees for 8 months before being stabilised and bottled in October 2016.

Steenberg Nebbiolo 2014

The 2014 Nebbiolo visually seduces with a delightfully brilliant garnet red colour and flashes of amber around the edges. The bouquet displays notes of rose petal and dried wild herbs such as thyme, origanum and fynbos plants along with earthy, leathery tones. This wine displays the natural tart acidity of Nebbiolo, well accompanied with hints of sour cherries, raspberries and hibiscus tea on the finish. The tannins are firm and beautifully integrated. Decanting this wine promises to bring it to life even more – the evolution of this wine over the next decade will be a fascinating journey.

Steenberg Catharina 2014 - SOLD OUT

Our 2014 Catharina is an elegant blend of the three French red grape varieties that are grown on the farm. This wine showcases a brilliant dark ruby red colour in the glass with subtle earthy and spicy aromas of black olives, dried fynbos, mint, clove and cardamom on the nose. The Merlot adds juicy dark cherries to the palate while the Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and a soft tannin texture to the wine. Finally, the Shiraz adds a subtle spiciness on the back palate and contributes to the savoury, smoky tannin finish that lingers in the mouth.
