AT HOME BODY TREATMENTS

Our Steenberg Spa therapists have put together their favourite body treatments for you to try at home.

Avocado, Sea Salt and Mint Body Scrub:

Ingredients

1 ripe avocado, peeled and stone removed

2 tablespoons ground almonds

1 tablespoon ground sesame seeds

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves

A large handful of fresh mint

150ml extra-virgin olive oil

100g fine sea salt

Combine the avocado, almonds, sesame seeds, rosemary and mint together in a blender, then add in the olive oil. Transfer the mixture into a bowl and then stir in the sea salt, or use a little less if you prefer a more gentle scrub.

This scrub can be used anywhere on the body and will keep for up to 5 days in the fridge. The avocado contains vitamins A, C, D and E and is rich in potassium, riboflavin and thiamine, while the mint is stimulating, cleansing and aromatic.

Honey and Mango Body Mask:

Ingredients

100g rolled oats

100g couscous

200ml hot water

10g runny honey

1 mango, peeled and mashed

1 papaya, peeled, seeded and mashed

2 egg whites

A squeeze of lemon

Optional:

Essential oil blend, 20 drops of each

Blend the oats and couscous together in the hot water, then allow to cool and add in all the other ingredients.

Apply to any areas of the body that need moisturising or toning, especially areas that have been exposed to the sun.

Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse off in the shower.

Mango and honey are a rich source of vitamins A and C and are great for soothing and moisturising. Papaya and lemon are a source of papain enzymes, which help with cleansing and conditioning, and the essential oil, if used, is good for giving you fresher, brighter looking skin.

Detoxifying Coffee and Mint Wrap

After exfoliating your body, you can also do a coffee and mint wrap. 

The amount of ingredients you need will depend on the area of the body you are targeting. You can choose to target just one part of your body or your whole body.

Ingredients:

Coffee

Mint

Full cream yoghurt

If you are targeting just your legs; take 4 heaped tablespoons of coffee, mix into a paste using hot water. Chop up half a cup of mint. Take 3-4 cups of full cream yoghurt. Mix all the ingredients together. Apply to the desired area and wait 15 – 20 minutes. You can wrap the area in cling film for extra absorption. 

This wrap will increase circulation, help remove toxins and help reduce cellulite.
