Our gracious Steenberg Syrah’s full red colour is a sign of the flavours and aromas that await you in the glass. Violet, nutmeg, boysenberry, and cherry sherbet on the nose transform into a medium-bodied, delicate black fruit and spice driven wine with soft, fine tannins, integrated acidity and a silky texture. The ideal partner to fillet au poivre – in fact all red meats grilled over open flames.

The Black Swan 2019 shows notes of blackcurrant, gunflint, elderflower and fynbos on the nose, while the palate supports the aromas with naartjie marmalade, lemon zest, summer melon, yellow apple and fresh fig leaves. A mouth-watering acidity accompanies the full, medium-weighted palate, achieved with extended lees contact in tank. This is a great food wine and will reward cellaring of between 10 – 20 years.

Our 2019 Sphynx Chardonnay shows upfront and intense aromas of limestone and orange blossom, butterscotch and crème brûlée on the nose. Subtle vanilla oak spice is carried through from the nose to the palate where it meets flavours of pear and dried apple. It is complemented by a silky, elegant structure and creamy texture, which in turn is tempered by a clean acidity and chalky minerality.
The wine is ready to enjoy now, but will reward patience and age gracefully for the next 2- 5 years.

The 2016 Catharina stands out with its intensity and complexity, evoking the aromas of many of life’s pleasures: biltong and cigar, coffee and dark chocolate, fruitcake and Ceylon tea. Layers of concentrated red and black fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant and black cherry) show on both the nose and the palate, accented with spicy pepper from the Syrah. Herbal notes from the Merlot lend a refreshing finish, while Petit Verdot rounds out the blend, adding structure and depth. Dark fruit and spice, subtle acidity and a strong tannic backbone create the optimal pairing for a traditional beef Wellington. Will bottle age well for 7 to 10 years after bottling.

On appearance, this wine is slightly brick red with a clear yet bright hue. The bouquet displays notes of savoury strawberry compote, aniseed and truffle; along with notes of leather and red cherry. The wine displays the natural tart acidity and grippy tannins of Nebbiolo, accompanied with hints of sour cherry, raspberry and tobacco leaf.
The wine shows beautiful fruit and floral characters in youth, but will develop well over the next 7 to 10 years and will greatly reward those who resist it’s youthful charm.

Our 2018 Semillon is a beautiful pale gold colour. Aromas of honey, stone fruit and ground spice greet you upon first inspection. Quince, persimmon and roasted almond complete the sensation on the palate. Poised fruit concentrates the mid-palate, after which the wine broadens out with a rich, almost waxy texture and bright acidity. A citrus and floral spice lingers on the palate long after the last drop. This Semillon will continue to evolve in complexity and richness with age.
