5 Stars – Platter’s Wine Guide 2023
The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is a pure expression of the Steenberg terroir and shows notes of lime zest, white blossom, elderflower and persimmon on the nose, while the palate supports the aromas with fresh grapefruit and subtle hints of nectarine and mange tout. A mouth-watering acidity accompanies a full and long finish achieved with extended lees contact in tank. This is a wonderful food wine and will reward cellaring of between 10 – 20 years.

In The Cellar
The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of the top two Sauvignon Blanc vineyards on Steenberg and is a selection of the best fruit from the vintage. The grapes were crushed / de-stemmed and left on the skins for 18 hours at very cold temperatures. The juice was then left to settle for 2 days before fermentation. A slow and cold fermentation resulted in a fresh, yet weighted wine. The wine was kept on the lees for 9 months before being stabilised and bottled in November 2021.

Your same favourite wine with a fresh new look! We have released the new packaging of Steenberg Chardonnay (previously Steenberg Sphynx Chardonnay) featuring an elegant, contemporary aesthetic.
Our 2021 Chardonnay shows upfront and intense aromas of citrus marmalade, fresh Golden Delicious apple, butterscotch and shortbread on the nose. Subtle vanilla oak spice is carried through from the nose to the palate where it meets flavours of quince and candied apple. It is complemented by a bright, clean structure and long finish, which in turn is tempered by a lifting acidity and chalky minerality.
The wine is ready to enjoy now but will reward patience and age gracefully for the next 2- 5 years.

Our 2020 Semillon is a beautiful pale gold colour. Aromas of apricot, cardamom and orange blossom greet you upon first inspection. Quince, hay bale and roasted almond complete the sensation on the palate. Poised, weighted fruit concentrates the mid-palate, after which the wine broadens out with a rich, almost waxy texture and bright acidity. A citrus and floral spice lingers on the palate long after the last drop. This Semillon will continue to evolve in complexity and richness with age.

Your same favourite wine with new name and a fresh new look! We have released the new packaging of Steenberg Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc featuring an elegant, contemporary aesthetic.
Both terroir and treatment are immediately evident in the glass. A resonance of golden hay, elderflower, white peach and greengage marry on both the nose and palate. Acidity and spice form the backbone, dominating on the palate, while a pithy yet creamy texture rounds out the overall mouthfeel. The textured, juicy palate shows quince, nasturtium and lime. A lingering herbaceous and mineral finish completes the experience. This wine will be enhanced by a food pairing such as shellfish, or a Thai curry accented by ginger and lemongrass. Drink now, but wait five to seven years for a truly evolved experience.
