Our Steenberg Ruby Rosé is made from Syrah. The Syrah grapes hail from multiple blocks from our farm in Constantia. The grapes were hand-picked at an average of 22 degrees balling in the early morning in mid-February. They were whole-bunch pressed with a champagne pressing cycle to extract a pale and delicate juice. The Syrah juices were fermented separately. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks to retain freshness and protect the primary characteristics of the varietal. The juices were inoculated with neutral yeast strains and underwent a cool fermentation (13-15°C) for about 21 days. The wine underwent a light fining and was bottled in mid-June 2021.

The 2021 Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc, pale-straw in colour with an ever so slight green hue, hypnotises with a seductive bouquet showing fresh cape gooseberry, nettle, lime, summer melon, blackcurrant and white blossom. This cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc has a sumptuous entry tied to an enduring length. The lifting acidity maintains a lively flavour on the palate with grapefruit zest and elderflower while maintaining a distinctive mineral core derived from the Steenberg terroir. SEPTEMBER PROMOTION. WAS R190. NOW R152. Our pale pink 1682 Pinot Noir Cap Classique is fresh with fruity aromas of raspberry jelly, wild strawberry sorbet, red apple skin and toasted brioche. The wine has a very fine mousse that lifts the raspberry-like aromas and is balanced well with a creamy texture and bright acidity with a lingering dry finish. Enjoy in its youth or cellar for 3 to 5 years to promote a more savoury flavour development.

Your same favourite wine with a fresh new look! We have released the new packaging of Steenberg Rattlesnake Sauvignon Blanc featuring an elegant, contemporary aesthetic.
Both terroir and treatment are immediately evident in the glass. White blossom, elderflower, fresh asparagus and cape gooseberry marry on both the nose and palate. Acidity and spice form the backbone, dominating on the palate, while a creamy texture rounds out the overall mouthfeel. The palate shows capsicum, nasturtium and lime. A lingering mineral finish completes the experience.
This wine will be enhanced by a food pairing such as shellfish, a Thai curry accented by ginger and lemon grass, a savoury tart tatin or grilled calamari.
Although beautifully balanced from date of release, this wine is still developing. Drink now, but wait five to seven years for a truly evolved experience.
